Is Your Life at a Crossroads? You may need Personal Coaching

"What are your plans for the future?"

"Where do you see yourself in ten years?"

I’m sure you’ve been asked these questions or variations of it many times before, by the high school guidance counselor or a job interviewer. What did you say? Were you grasping for a response?

It’s not uncommon for many people to not know what life has in store for them. When I was fresh out of college I had a BA and no direction in life. All I knew is that I didn’t want to work in a stuffy office at a dead end 9 to 5 job. Unfortunately all that was available to a recent graduate with no work experience was exactly that. So I toiled away for a few years at jobs I didn’t like. When I turned 25 I had to ask myself, "Is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life? I’m not happy and I know I need to change careers? But how do I do so?"

I really could have used a personal coach right about then. Life coaches sounds like a made-up job but it does exists and they do help people fulfill their potential and reach their goals.

Life coaches are a combination of personal trainer, cheerleader, Knute Rockne and your mother. In other words they are there to whip you into shape, motivate you to success, come up with new game plans and strategies and dole out some wisdom and a little tough love.

Sounds like a tall order but they really can work miracles if you’re open to the idea. Life coaches can also ease people into retirement, advise businesses on employee morale, and even get your personal belongings organized. The idea is that if your things are organized then your life begins to follow the same path. Imagine your bedroom looking like a mess and your checkbook gets lost on a regular basis, how can you pay your bills on time? Won’t you always be in a stressed state? Life coaches make small changes and give you attainable goals so that you can slowly turn your life around.

Whether you are just out of school, a housewife looking to get back to work, a soon-to-be retiree, or a business executive, if you’re at a crossroad in your life, seek out a life coach. They can help you, even if you just need someone to listen, or get you out that runt you’re in. Why not just call a friend, you might ask. Well, sometimes, despite their good intentions, friends are just too close to you to give you an unbiased opinion. You need someone who will look at your situation objectively and give you balanced advice.
